Notes

As I have thought about the principle of gratitude, I have come to the conclusion that, in order to show gratitude for a gift he have to take actions that show that we value the gift. Principal among these actions is using the gift, (an unused gift is like not having one at all) but taking appropriate action to safeguard and maintain the gift is also important. Ideally, we show gratitude to a gift giver by demonstrating to them that we are taking actions that show that we value the gift. Gratitude, then, is like faith and love. The important part is not what we feel, but the actions we take that demonstrate what we feel.
