Notes
Media originated in a small region of north-western Iran. In Isaiah's day, they had expanded to control most of what is now modern Iran, Parts of Turkey, Azerbaijan, parts of Turkmenistan and much of Afghanistan. Historically, Tehran was a suburb of the classical (pre-imperial) Median city of Rhages.
