Notes
The origin of the Amalekites is a bit of a mystery. It seems very likely that these are the same as the Amlicites. Some have speculated that spelling issues in the early manuscripts led to the discrepancy. I have speculated that the Lamanites couldn't pronounce Amlici, and that this is a lamanitization of the word. It's also possible that they are distinct groups and the lost 116 pages would clarify the issue.
Benjamin McMurtry has argued that the groups are distinct, and I believe the points he makes about the timeline are particularly string.
