Circumcision
- Josephus, "Flavius Josephus against Apion", 1.22
- Some history of circumcision given.
- Circumcision said to have originally only been practiced among the Colchians, Egyptians, and Ethiopians. The Phoenicians adopted the practice from the Egyptians and the Macrones adopted it from the Colchians. The Syrians are said to have partially adopted it from the Egyptians and partially from the Colchians.
- Discussion of how modern circumcision practices are actually late (starting at about 140 AD), and that the practice was different anciently, and correlated well with mesoamerican circumcision practices.
- Apparently, the ancient practice was not intended to be performed at 8 days of age, but rather, as a preparation for marriage.
