Commandments Given then Rescinded

Notes

Here arises an interesting pattern in the way the Lord deals with his people. Keeping in mind 1 Nephi 3:7, the Lord sometimes gives commandments to his people which they apear to be unable to obey. However, in such cases, it is never because the thing commanded could not be done, but because the people, or many of them, wickedly chose to disobey. Examples of this are poligamy, the United Order, and the commandment to build the temple in Jackson County, Missouri.

The Law of Moses represents another interesting example of commandments given and then rescinded.
