Egypt principally referred to its own land as k-m-t, "black land". Other names also exist, "T3wy" (two lands), "ʾIdbwy" (two shores)
In Hebrew, Egypt is known as "מצרים", miṣrayîm. This is translated as "Two-borders", "two straits", or "two fortresses". This is very similar to the name of Egypt in other languages in the region.
