Mount Shelem

And it came to pass that the brother of Jared, (now the number of the vessels which had been prepared was eight) went forth unto the mount, which they called the mount Shelem, because of its exceeding height, and did molten out of a rock sixteen small stones; and they were white and clear, even as transparent glass; and he did carry them in his hands upon the top of the mount, and cried again unto the Lord, saying:

Notes

It is interesting that the name of this mountain where the Brother of Jared has his major sacred experience has a name that is similar to "salem", from a Hebrew perspective (both shin-lamed-mem). Salem is the city ruled by melchizedek, and the cite of a temple; possibly identical to Jerusalem, which is itself on a mount and the site of a temple. From a Hebrew perspective, the meaning conveyed is wholeness or completeness, and thence we reach ideas like peace, perfection, restitution, etc.

If the Jaredites spoke Sumerian, then we would not expect this correlation unless the mountain's name had been translated to be hebraicized.
