Treasure Cave

Note, the lost cave mentioned here is NOT the treasure cave. This cave is about a mile from the Hill Cumorah.
Don Bradley describes that he thinks this cave is being conflated with the treasure cave, and that the treasure cave itself was probably not physically visited by Oliver Cowdery, but more likely seen in vision.
This would make the Hill Shim, where Ammaron had deposited his cache of records, a more likely location for the actual Treasure Cave. Wherever that is.

Notes

Of particular interest here are accounts that the cave contained a sheathable and unsheathable Sword of Laban, which seems to contradict reports that the Sword of Laban had rusted out. (Or it implies that the blade had been reforged.)

It is noteworthy that none of the recorded sources are primary. (Many of the sources are clearly tertiary or worse.) The original source would appear to be Oliver Cowdery, but it's not clear under what condition anybody who claims to have heard it from him, received the story. Typically, the cave is portrayed as being in the Hill Cumorah, but David Whitmer denies that and says that it is only near the Hill Cumorah.
