:Studies show that dressing in more revealing clothing causally leads to girls performing significantly more poorly in academic tests (even when they are totally alone). To the contrary, boys seem to get a small boost in the same tests when they are less dressed. This is attributed to the girls being distracted and less focused on the task when they are dressed in more revealing clothing. The article and some studies use the word self-objectification to describe this affect. I might be inclined to use the word self-conscious.

This page is a sort of amalgam. As the word is frequently use, it focuses on appropriate forms of dress and the perception of appropriateness or inappropriateness of exposing one's body to public display. As such it might be thought to serve as an antithesis to pornography. However, it is not felt that this is necessarily the best use of the word, and it certainly does seem to be a bit hijacked. More broadly, the word also serves as a synonym for humility. Much of what this page will cover, however, is information relating to societal attitudes towards body exposure and attractiveness, and, secondarily, other behaviors which might be an outward indicator of humility, or the lack thereof.

Information regarding discrepant boys' and girls' swimwear during the early 1900's. (ie Boys often had to swim naked while girls had to wear a suit.)
Studies show that dressing in more revealing clothing causally leads to girls performing significantly more poorly in academic tests (even when they are totally alone).

Notes
