Men should support good government.

"... all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel."

"We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law."

  • Joseph Smith, compiled by Joseph Fielding Smith, "Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith", pp. 47-60

Many aspects of law are treated upon. The laws of earthly governments are compared with the laws of heaven. The law of sacrifice is discussed and law is used as a basis for arguing the continual existance of ordinances as well as the incompleteness of the Bible.

"In an excerpt from his new book, The Rule of Nobody, Philip K. Howard argues that mindless legal rigidity is strangling common sense solutions to our problems."

Pilot study finds that acting in agreement, despite actual disagreement can cause significant unhappiness. This suggests to me that compliance with law that is contrary to one's morals will lead to unhappiness, and that resistance to such unjust law would tend to lead to a better result.

Notes

I consider D&C 134 to contain a more detailed and accurate take on everything covered by the 12th Article of Faith.
