- Mormon leads the Nephites in their war with the Lamanites. The Lamanites gain advantage and push the Nephites so far north that Mormon has an opportunity to retrieve the records left for him by Ammaron. He records the history of his people to that point as Ammaron had commanded him. The Nephites manages to hold against the Lamanites and beat them back a bit. The Nephites and the Lamanites agree to a new boundary, with the Nephites taking the land north of the narrow neck (desolation and any other northern lands), and the Lamanites taking the land south of the narrow neck (bountiful and the land south of there).
- Mormon prepares for future war with the Lamanites and cries repentance, but the Nephites don't repent. Notes
Mormon seems to have been a small child in the Land of Desolation, or some other northern territory. He has a very northern perspective. He sees Zarahemla as part of the land southward, and his mental boundary between north and south appears to be the narrow neck of land, or the Land of Bountiful.
