And it came to pass that he had three sons; and he called their names Mosiah, and Helorum, and Helaman. And he caused that they should be taught in all the language of his fathers, that thereby they might become men of understanding; and that they might know concerning the prophecies which had been spoken by the mouths of their fathers, which were delivered them by the hand of the Lord.
Mosiah becomes king after his father Benjamin.
13) Now Ammon said unto him: I can assuredly tell thee, O king, of a man that can translate the records; for he has wherewith that he can look, and translate all records that are of ancient date; and it is a gift from God. And the things are called interpreters, and no man can look in them except he be commanded, lest he should look for that he ought not and he should perish. And whosoever is commanded to look in them, the same is called seer.
14) And behold, the king of the people who are in the land of Zarahemla is the man that is commanded to do these things, and who has this high gift from God.
13) And after being many days in the wilderness they arrived in the land of Zarahemla, and joined Mosiah’s people, and became his subjects.
14) And it came to pass that Mosiah received them with joy; and he also received their records, and also the records which had been found by the people of Limhi.
And after they had been in the wilderness twelve days they arrived in the land of Zarahemla; and king Mosiah did also receive them with joy.
Mosiah reads the records of Limhi and Alma to his people.
He authorizes Alma to establish a church.
Mosiah declines to judge the apostate youths and leaves it to Alma.
Mosiah forbids persecutions. His four sons are among those rebelling against God, but are brought to repentance. Peace is established.
Mosiah's sons refuse to succeed him to the throne. He gives them permission to go on a mission to the Lamanites. He translates the plates of Ether. He confers the records that he keeps upon Alma, the Younger, along with the Urim and Thummim.
Mosiah sets up a system of judges to replace him, then dies.
