The Book of Ruth has a significant Temple motif.

1. New name.
   • Naomi becomes Mara (bitter).
   • Event the idea of bitterness itself is a significant allusion to the temple, where Myrrh was burned, but a major theme of bitterness within the temple is how bitterness can be turned sweet.
2. Ruth having to leave her homeland to go someplace foreign where she has to work by the sweat of her brow to eat her bread.
3. Boaz is the name of one of the pillars of Solomon's temple.
4. Boaz, as a Christ figure, has to redeem Ruth in order for her to be able to marry him.
