Scriptures/The Book of Mormon
- Summarizes the issue with the beginning of the Book of Mosiah as it relates to the Lost 116 pages.
- "The Book of Moroni and the internal individual Book of Mormon lack a preface summary. Moroni provided one in the form of the Title Page at the back of the book, but not for his Book of Moroni (or for his abridgment of the Book of Ether). All of the rest of the books within the Book of Mormon have a summary or preface, excepting the mini one-chapter books of Jarom, Omni, the Words of Mormon, and also the Book of Mosiah. The Book of Mosiah probably had one, but it is clear from Royal Skousen’s (2001) work that we are lacking the very first portion of the Book of Mosiah as it was contained in the 116 lost pages. Even the Record of Zeniff, which is not a formal book, had a preface summary. It is certainly a reasonable expectation that the entire Book of Mormon itself had an introductory preface summary of some sort, which would reasonably be found on or immediately after the Front Plate and would probably have been written by Mormon."
